The following night when Gladys Knight performed at the London venue, SSE Hire was able to keep the Meyer system in situ for the gig, reducing rigging time, simplifying logistics and reducing costs. The two nights at the Royal Albert Hall included the addition of the full London Symphony Orchestra, close-mic’d and mixed down separately by SSE before sending feeds to Jim ‘Redford’ Sanders at FOH. The Meyer Sound system included Meyer Milo for the main hangs, Meyer Mica for side hangs plus some additional choir fills to provide even coverage throughout the auditorium. When Frankie Valli performed the first two nights at the Royal Albert Hall, SSE Hire supplied additional Meyer boxes to supplement his touring package and cater for the nuances of the venue. So SSE is a kind of one-stop-shop for this type of project, keeping it nice and simple for the promoter and production managers.”Ĭontrol and monitor packages were also supplied by SSE, with all three FOH engineers opting for a Yamaha PM5D. SSE Hire Director (and founder of Canegreen) Yan Stile explained, “Because of our massive hire inventory that includes all of these brands in great quantity, we are able to supply each act with its first choice of box. Frankie Valli's team opted for a Meyer Milo package for a tour of arenas, Gladys Knight used a d&b V system for a series of theatre dates, while Frank Sinatra Jnr chose an L-Acoustics KARA system, again for a theatre tour. With the Jazz Week title now dropped, this year Kennedy Street decided to promote a more extensive range of concerts across the UK for Frankie Valli, Gladys Knight and Frank Sinatra junior, scheduled around the nights at the Royal Albert Hall.Įach of the artists chose a separate PA system for their UK dates, all supplied by SSE Hire.
